Teaching Approach
- Teaching Philosophy + Approach
- Rooted firmly in our “dance for all” belief, we teach to the whole child, embracing where each child is at with the art form of dance and taking them on a journey that is engaging, empowering, disciplined and fun, while supporting them in moving through perceived obstacles they may come up against along the way.
Our first class begins with the teaching artist, classroom teacher and students connecting as a group and the teaching artist getting to know the students. The project is then discussed and explained in its entirety. We discuss what is expected of each student and how important each to the success of the project.
As we are teaching, we constantly check in with the students to make sure they understand and are getting what is being taught. We ask lots of questions and encourage many questions be asked. At the end of each class, we go over what has been taught, what they should review outside of class and what will be taught the next class.
This process continues until the project is complete. At the end of the project, we get feedback from the students and the teachers via feedback forms.
